Why is my search feature in email is not working?

When I try to search in my own email by sender or by topic area, no response is being returned. In a casual review I can see there are numerous emails from the sender or the topic, yet the search returns "no response".|||If this is Yahoo Mail - it's f*cked up at the moment.
